尤金·奈達

尤金·奈達（Eugene A. Nida，）是美國語言學家和翻譯家，他提出了「動態對等」的聖經翻譯理論。

生平
奈達出生於美國奧克拉荷馬城，1936年畢業於加利福尼亚大学，获拉丁文學位榮譽，1939年獲希臘語《聖經新約》研究的碩士學位，1943年於密歇根大學獲得語言學博士學位，同年開始在美國聖經公會任職。他把語言學應用於聖經翻譯，創建了富有自己特色的翻譯理論。1995年香港中文大學逸夫書院邀請了奈達出席訪問學人講座，以「邁向二十一世紀的翻譯研究」為題發表演說。於2003年出版了自傳《Fascinated by Languages》。
翻譯理論
奈達提出了「動態對等」的概念，認為翻譯是使用最切近而又最自然的對等語再現信息，但這種「內容為主，形式為次」的說法引起了不少誤解，因此他後來改稱為「功能對等」，要求信息內容對等的同時，要盡可能形式對等。
