释经学（）是指基督教神学和猶太教神學中对圣经进行解释的分支。它属于广义的解释学的一部分，内容涉及对文本旨意的研究，并包括文字交流的所有形式：文字的和非文字的。尽管犹太教法典解释学和基督教的释经学有一些重叠和对话，它们却有着各自不同的解释传统。
解经学与释经学的区别
解经学（）是对原本的语言和环境进行解读，即神在当时当地对原来的听众说了什么；而释经学则是将圣经的教导运用在现实之中，即目的是了解神对此时此地的当事人说了什么。
猶太教
現代聖經來源批判
在非正統猶太教信徒中，運用聖經來源批判（如底本假說和補編假說）來建構現代猶太教神學的興趣日益濃厚。其目標如下：
- 如何調和現代道德觀與聖經中那些認可了，諸如種族滅絕和其他集體懲罰等，道德上有爭議的行為的段落？
- 接受或拒絕民俗、社會規範和語言趨勢，作為更全面了解情況的猶太人，可以進行選擇和取捨。
- 儘管聖經對某些現代現象的描述不足，甚至完全排除在外，但我們仍然可以從中學習。
在某種程度上，這是將塔木德詮釋學應用於對相互競爭的妥拉學派的傳統來源批判：祭司學派、申命記學派，以及一個、兩個或多個非祭司學派和非申命記學派。
