哈羅德·霍特林

哈羅德·霍特林（，）為數理統計學者、具重要影響力的經濟理論學者。

生平
1927年起，他擔任史丹佛大學數學系副教授。1931年到1946年期間，任職哥倫比亞大學。1946年起，在北卡羅來納大學教堂山分校數理統計系任教，直到他去世。教堂山有一條街道和他的名字有關。1972年，因對科學的貢獻獲頒 North Carolina Award。

當他在華盛頓大學就讀時，受知名數學家埃里克·坦普尔·贝尔的鼓舞，從數學轉換到經濟學領域。後來，他四十多歲在哥倫比亞大學任教時，換他鼓舞他的學生肯尼斯·約瑟夫·阿羅，從數學和統計領域轉換到精算學科，朝數學在經濟理論中更廣泛應用之路邁進。
