有效日期（），台灣稱為保存期限、消費期限，是指产品在规定的贮藏条件下的可以使用的日期期限。有效日期一般在产品的外包装上，消费者容易看到的地方，一般食品、药品、护肤品、日用品等都会有有效日期。和保质期（賞味期限）不同，超过賞味期的食物、物品还可以安全食用、使用，但超过有效日期则全无此类保证。只有一小部分地区，例如日本，会同时标记保存期限和賞味期限。一般来说，日本以保存期限的2/3作為賞味期限。
英國第4大連鎖超市Morrisons於2022年1月9月宣布，1月底起將移除超市內9成牛奶的保存期限標示，但會保留「最佳賞味期限」，過了後者以後，消費者把在家應該自己用「聞」的判定是否還可以飲用，也可以搖一搖感覺裡面是否有結塊，依硬化狀況測試保存效期。
