潤滑劑是介入到運動物體表面,來減少摩擦,提高效率的物質。通常爲液體。潤滑劑用途廣泛,除了工業用途,還常見於烹飪(塗抹在煎鍋、烤箱的表面)、減少機械鏽蝕和摩擦(如機油潤滑脂)以及生物學和醫學用途(如人工關節的潤滑、超聲波檢查和其他醫學檢查、性交)。
歷史
潤滑劑的使用已有數千年歷史。在西元前 1400 年的戰車車軸上就發現了鈣皂。在金字塔時代,建築石材是在浸油的木材上滑動的。在羅馬時代,潤滑劑以橄欖油和菜籽油以及動物脂肪為基礎。隨著金屬機械的使用,工業革命加速了潤滑的發展。此類機械的需求最初依賴天然油,但在 20 世紀 00 年代初期轉向石油基材料。正如真空油公司所描述的那樣,石油真空蒸餾技術的發展取得了突破。該技術可以淨化非常不揮發的物質,這些物質在許多潤滑劑中很常見。
种类
潤滑剂可以是粉狀固體(如石墨、MoS2)、固體/液體的分散系、液體、液體/液體的分散系(潤滑脂),偶爾也會用氣體作為潤滑剂。
润滑脂的散热性不如润滑油,所以只能在低速运动的部件中使用。
潤滑添加劑(Lubricant Additives)是潤滑劑中的成份之一。
