| symptoms = 耳痛、耳道腫脹、听觉障碍。糖尿病患者可能罹患更嚴重的惡性外耳炎（Malignant otitis externa），約10%的人口在一生中某個時間點曾得過外耳炎，居住於氣候較溫暖或潮濕地區的居民較容易患病。
