概述
2015年2月，欧洲航天局实验升力体航天器——过渡实验飞行器成功进行首次试飞，这是一次接近入轨的亚轨道飞行。
2015年3月，黎明号进入轨道，谷神星成为第一颗被航天器访问的矮行星。2015年7月，新视野号经过9年的航行访问了冥王星-卡戎系统，带回了有关这颗前“第九大行星”（现被归类为矮行星）的大量图片和信息。与此同时，信使号探测器在轨道上观测了4年后受控撞向水星。
2015年11月23日，蓝色起源新谢泼德号亚轨道火箭在发射场附近实现首次动力软着陆，为其推进级的全面重复使用铺平了道路。12月21日，SpaceX猎鹰9号全推力火箭完成首飞，第一级成功着陆。
2015年12月17日，中国发射了暗物质粒子探测卫星“悟空”。
两颗老旧氣象衛星和DMSP5D-2/F13于2015年解体，产生了数百块太空垃圾。这两起案件的根本原因都被怀疑是电池爆炸。
