乍得划分为23個大区。

歷史
From independence in 1960 until 1999 it was divided into . These were replaced in 1999 by . The country was reorganized again in 2002 to produce 18 régions. In 2008, a further four régions were created, increasing the number to 22. Ennedi Region was split into Ennedi-Est and Ennedi-Ouest in 2012, producing the current 23 regions.

** 提貝斯提區（）：原為博爾庫-恩內迪-提貝斯提區的（）。
- Split from the 加奈姆區:
** 加扎勒河區 (Bahr El Gazel) region, from Kanem's former (Bahr El Gazel) department
- Split from 瓦達伊區
** 西拉區 (Dar Sila) region, from Ouaddaï's former and (Djourouf Al Ahmar) departments
