古典亚美尼亚语（，东亚美尼亚语：Grabar，西亚美尼亚语：Krapar；意为“书面/文学[语言]”；其他名称有古亚美尼亚语和礼拜亚美尼亚语）是亚美尼亚语最早有书面记录的形式。自5世纪初到18世纪所有的亚美尼亚语文獻均以古典亚美尼亚语写就。许多古手稿常写作亚美尼亚字母转写的古希腊语、波斯语、希伯来语、叙利亚语和拉丁语。
古典亚美尼亚语仍是亚美尼亚使徒教会和亚美尼亚礼天主教会的禮儀語言，常由圣经、两约时期和教父学学者学习，以进行文献研究。古典亚美尼亚语对于原始印欧语构拟来说也很有价值。
音系

元音
有7个单元音：
- (ա)、(ի)、或schwa(ը)、或开e(ե)、或闭e(է)、(ո)和(ու)(分别转写为a、i、ə、e、ē、o和u)。转写为u的元音写作ow(ու)，但实际上不是双元音。
一般有6个双元音：
- ay(այ)、aw(աւ>օ)、ea(եա)、ew(եւ)、iw(իւ)、oy(ոյ)。
辅音
塞音和塞擦音在普遍的浊音和清音系列之外还有一套送气音，以古希腊语研究常用的粗气符表示：p῾、t῾、c῾、č῾、k῾。表中格子左边是国际音标(IPA)，右边是对应的亚美尼亚字母。
