2008年夏季奧林匹克運動會男子足球比賽自8月7日至8月23日進行，比賽場館分別為分別為上海體育場、天津奧林匹克體育場、北京工人體育場、瀋陽奧林匹克體育中心體育場、秦皇島奧林匹克體育場和北京國家體育場，共分兩個階段進行，共16支球隊參加總比賽場數為32場，其中小組賽階段，16支球隊被分為4個小組，進行單循環賽，共24場比賽，獲得小組前兩名的球隊晉級四分之一决赛，四分之一决赛勝者進入半决赛，半决赛負者進行銅牌爭奪戰，勝者進行決賽。
