|known_for = 創立卡尔沙是錫克教的第十代古鲁，為第九代古鲁得格·巴哈都爾的獨子。因父親被莫臥兒帝國皇帝奧朗則布處死，他在九歲就成為了古鲁。

戈賓德·辛格在1699年創立了錫克教武裝組織卡尔沙（卡爾薩），並提出五條“卡爾薩戒律”，以保護被莫臥兒帝國迫害的錫克教徒。他最後被莫臥兒官員派人刺殺。由於戈賓德·辛格的四個兒子都在他之前被莫臥兒帝國殺害，他死前留下遺言：之後不再由某個人來擔任古魯職位，而是以經書《古魯·格蘭特·薩希卜》為「永遠的古魯」。
