莱斯利·斯蒂芬

莱斯利·斯蒂芬，kcb（，），英国作家、批评家、历史学家、传记作者和登山家。是弗吉尼亚·吴尔夫和瓦妮莎·贝尔的父亲。

生平
莱斯利·斯蒂芬毕业于剑桥三一学院，受牧师职。他是《英国人物传记词典》首任主编，撰写三百七十八个条目；为《英国文学家丛书》，他写出五部传记；他也是一位道德哲学家，主张不可知论，并且撰著了一部进化论的《伦理科学》（1882年），此外还有《十八世纪英国思想史》（1876年），还有《英国功利主义者》（1900年）。1904年2月22日去世。

家庭
他的哥哥是律师詹姆斯·菲茨詹姆斯·斯蒂芬。

斯蒂芬爵士的原配夫人是小说大师威廉·梅克比斯·薩克萊的女儿哈里特·玛丽安·萨克雷。弗吉尼亚的教父詹姆斯·羅素·洛厄爾是美国驻英大使。1875年，玛丽安·萨克雷因病逝世，留下了一个女儿劳拉。但劳拉遗传了外祖母的精神病，后被送进了疯人院。1878年，斯蒂芬爵士与裘丽亚·普林塞普·达克沃思（婚后改名茱莉亚·斯蒂芬）。
