奈特·杜納（，）是一名非洲裔奴隸，曾領導維吉尼亞州南安普頓縣奴隸和自由黑人在1831年8月21日的特納起義 ，導致55至65名白人死亡。被激怒的白人民兵為了報復，在平息叛亂的過程中殺死超過200名黑人。
奈特·杜納領導一群反對奴隸制的奴隸，他們收集馬匹和槍隻，並沿路釋放奴隸，招募想加入的黑人。維吉尼亞州的立法者針對自由黑人設置殖民法案，並藉由陪審團剝奪自由黑人權利。白人民兵組織呼籲軍隊鎮壓起義，並襲擊黑人，造成估計200人死亡，很多死者都沒有參與叛亂。
之後，州政府迅速逮捕57名黑人，特納成功地躲藏兩個月後被捕。奈特·杜納迅速被定罪處死。南部各州州議員通過新的法律來控制奴隸和自由黑人。他們禁止黑奴和自由黑人接受教育，限制權利，撤回他們攜帶武器和投票（北卡羅萊納州）權利。
