印度城市分類

印度城市分类是印度政府用来向在印度城市工作的公务员分配住房补贴（HRA）的排名系统。（IRS）也参照住房补贴来提供减免。建议应依据人口数量对城市分类。根据最新的住房补贴城市排名方案，X级城市共有8个，大多数大众媒体和文化界认为只有这8个城市才是印度的“大都市”。
当前分类
根据第七届中央薪酬委员会的建议，城市补偿津贴（City Compensatory Allowance）于2008年废除。城市住房津贴（HRA）方面，将原A-1级改为X级，原A、B-1和B-2级改为Y级，原C级和未分类城市改为Z级。X、Y和Z级也被称为一级城市、二级城市和三级城市。共有8个X级城市和97个Y级城市。
根据2011年人口普查，2014年4月1日，浦那和艾哈迈达巴德两个城市从Y级升为X级，21个城市从Z级升为Y级。

历史分类
