博茨瓦納是一個適用死刑的國家。它是目前少數仍然在執行死刑的“民主國家”之一。該國被判死刑的人一般都涉嫌情節嚴重的謀殺罪。該國執行死刑的方式是絞刑。
根據該國於1998年公佈的官方統計，在該國1966年獨立到1997年，共有32人被處決。
該國有一個有較高知名度的死刑案件案。該案當事人馬里埃特·博世是一個來自南非的移民，因涉嫌殺死情人的妻子而在1999年被判死刑。她最終在2001年被處決。她是在非洲被處決的少數白人女性之一。
