曼谷大學，於1962年12月25日由Mr.Surat、Mrs.Pongtip Osathanugrah所創立的。Mr. Surat Osathanugrah是泰國最成功的商人之一，曾擔任內政部副長、商業部部長、以及人民代表。
原為泰國綜合理工學院，於1965年改制為曼谷學院，成為了泰國第一所私立學院。在1984年10月25日升格為大學，並設立了國際學院。
曼谷大學原先分成兩個校區，原本部位於曼谷奎南泰校區，（2024年5月27日正式拆除）另一校區（ 現為唯一校區）位於巴吞他尼府的蘭實校區。
