猛蛛下目

猛蛛下目（學名：，也稱：），即原蛛亞目，是蜘蛛目下的一個下目，屬於背突蛛亞目。毒牙相對新蛛亞目來說，其區別在於毒牙為平行狀。 其下生物的壽命可達25年。

蛛鱟曾被認為是最古老的猛蛛下目生物，歷史可追溯到石炭紀（3.5億年前），後來這具化石被發現其實是廣翅鱟的一種， 因此現在最早的猛蛛下目生物為格氏玫瑰古狼蛛（Rosamygale grauvogeli），它來自三疊紀， 該下目下沒有任何生物來自侏羅紀。

分佈
其下大多數生物生活在熱帶或亞熱帶地區，但更北的地區也有其蹤跡。而其下很少有生物產自歐洲，大約只有12種。不過在泛古陸時其分佈遍佈全球。
