新頭足綱（學名：）是一組頭足綱的軟體動物，包括有鞘形亞綱和鞘形亞綱所有生物，包括所有頭足綱內所有已滅絕、但比較接近鞘形亞綱的物種；比較接近鸚鵡螺亞綱的，則被歸類到舊頭足綱（）。目前地位未定。從今日的角度來看，新舊頭足綱的分別很明顯，但若我們單單從新頭足綱的化石去看，就可以看到當中的轉變。
歷史
這個新的分類於1980年由 Lehmann & Hillmer 提出，當時叫作「新頭足下綱」，包括有菊石亞綱（）、桿石亞綱（）及鞘形亞綱（）。不過這種分類很明顯的違反了林奈的分類法，因此把分類提升。新頭足綱又名「窄齒舌綱」（），因為當Lehmann在1967年發現菊石亞綱生物化石的齒石跟現在的鞘形亞綱非常相像，在每排齒舌均有七顆牙和兩顆邊牙，所以把他們歸類為「窄齒舌綱」；而鸚鵡螺亞綱的其他成員，均有九顆牙和四顆邊牙，則歸入「闊齒舌綱」（）。
