2007年亞足聯亞洲盃

2007年亞足聯亞洲盃是第 14 屆亞足聯亞洲盃，於2007年7月7日至7月29日在東南亞四國印尼、馬來西亞、泰國及越南舉行，本屆賽事是歷史上首次由4個國家共同主辦的國際體育賽事。

亞洲盃自1956年創辦以来每4年舉行一屆，由于举辦亞洲盃的年份中同时还有歐洲國家盃及奧運會這兩項國際重大體育賽事举辦，為避免與這兩項賽事的賽期衝突，同时也為了更好地推广亞洲盃、提高亞洲盃的影响力，亞洲足協決定改變傳統，将原定在2008年举辦的第 14 屆亞洲盃決賽週提前一年舉行，之後仍然維持每4年舉行一屆。

决賽中伊拉克以 1–0 战胜沙特阿拉伯，首次获得亞洲盃冠軍，成为第7个获得亞洲盃冠军的國家。奪冠后，伊拉克以亞洲盃冠军的身份代表亞洲足協参加2009年国际足联联合会杯。

澳洲加入亚足联后首次参加亞洲盃，这也是澳洲参加的第一个亞洲足球的重大賽事。

主辦國
本屆亚洲杯第一次由四个國家共同举辦，在国际大型足球賽事歷史中尚属首次。不过由此引发诸多财政、组织等方面的问题，使得当初极力向执委会引荐这个方案的亞洲足協主席穆罕默德·本·哈曼也不得不承认这是个“错误的决定”。他曾说：“对于一个拥有四个组委会和四个媒体中心以及一系列财政问题的执委会来说开展工作困难重重。”同时他还表示未来絕不会重复这样的错误。

2005年6月亚足联警告泰国务必于2007年以前完成提升改造，否则将会被新加坡取代主办权。同年8月12日亞洲足協还是最终认可了泰国的联合主办权。然而2006年10月泰国再次被警告，要求其在90天内务必完成改造。

比賽場地
外圍賽
本屆亞洲盃的決賽週由16隊參與，4个主辦國家直接获得參賽資格，其余的12個出線名額由25個國家或地區的球隊爭奪。與往屆不同的是，上屆冠軍日本也需要參與外圍賽爭取參賽資格，这是亞洲盃歷史上的第一次。除此以外，由於以巴衝突的關係，黎巴嫩境內受到嚴重破壞而使國家隊退出賽事。
外圍賽最終於2006年11月15日決出所有名額。

抽籤
分組抽籤於2006年12月19日在本屆主辦國之一的馬來西亞首都兼亞洲足協总部所在地吉隆坡進行。

種子隊
本屆賽事首次以FIFA世界排名來決定种子隊，而不是根據往屆亞洲盃的成績決定。因此，FIFA世界排名中排名最高的四支亞洲球隊成為种子隊，在抽籤中设為第四檔。四支東道主球隊设為第一檔。

比賽用球
本屆亞洲盃的專用足球由Nike所提供，是亞洲范围内的足球賽事中首次拥有指定的官方比賽用球，該專用足球的样式由4條藍色條纹所構成，並印有比賽的相关資料（如比賽地點等）以及本屆比賽的官方標誌。

執法裁判
16位裁判與24位助理裁判會負責執法亞洲盃中各場賽事。在此之前，他們於7月2日在馬來西亞吉隆坡進行體能測試，而當中有兩位球證及一位旁證是來自塞舌爾的，但他們並不屬於亞洲足協，而是非洲足協。與此同時，在測試中有兩位分別来自緬甸和卡塔爾的旁證因未能通過測試而失去執法資格。

分組賽的开始阶段爆出不少的冷门，首次参賽且被誉为夺冠热门的澳洲在第一场小组赛补时阶段依靠蒂姆·卡希尔的进球才艰难逼平阿曼，第二轮更是惨败给伊拉克；东道主之一的越南首场便 2–0 击败海湾杯冠军阿联酋，取得在亞洲盃决赛圈上的首场胜利；另一个东道主泰國同样改写了他们在亞洲盃决赛圈上的历史，在第二輪分組赛中历史性地首次在90分钟内获胜，他们以 2–0 击败阿曼；而韩國在第二轮输给了巴林，同样爆出不大不小的冷门。不过随着比賽的进行，强队的表现逐渐恢复正常，在进入分組赛最后一輪时传统强队纷纷大比分获胜后进入淘汰賽階段，反倒是在第一輪唯一击败东道主的中國，在第二輪逼平伊朗后没能把握住出线的大好形势，在最后一輪比赛中以 0–3 惨败给烏茲別克未能小組出線。
