海伦妮·贝尔塔·阿马莉·“莱妮”·里芬施塔尔（，），德國演員、導演兼電影製作人，以其電影美學與對電影技巧的深刻掌握著稱。
里芬施塔尔最著名的作品是1934年為德國納粹黨拍攝的宣傳性紀錄片《意志的勝利》，該片在第二次世界大戰後受影業排斥。她由於為希特勒納粹黨拍攝宣傳片而備受爭議，戰後漸轉為攝影師，并从事拍摄海洋生物纪录片。於100岁高龄完成《水下印象》，里芬施塔尔拍摄的另一部极具知名度的电影是记录柏林第十一届夏季奥林匹克运动会的《奥林匹亚》。这部电影在摄影技法及美学方面的成就对后世产生了深远的影响。

舞者與演員
萊芬斯坦出生於普魯士王國的柏林，以具有自我風格與演繹能力的舞者之姿展開其事業生涯。在2002年一次訪談中，萊芬斯坦仍說舞蹈才能真正帶給她快樂。她在一次膝蓋受傷後，從舞蹈轉向而參加一部拍攝山脈的影片，她隨即着迷於群山的美，也着迷於傳播媒體所蘊含的可能性。大約一整年她受膝傷的期間，萊芬斯坦前往阿爾卑斯山，這一年的思考讓她帶著決心回來，並向導演阿諾·芬克（Arnold Fanck）請求飾演他新片角色的機會。萊芬斯坦飾演《》（）中的角色，扮演一位身體強健、富有探險精神，同時又有魅力的年輕女子。萊芬斯坦是一位多產的默片演員，在德國導演界、大眾間逐漸都有了高知名度，隨即她把握住執導《藍光》的機會。原先她的興趣是劇情片，萊芬斯坦在真正轉作導演前飾演的最後一個角色，是1933年的影片《》（）。

與希特勒的友誼
莱妮·里芬施塔尔是希特勒的密友。因為希特勒非常欣賞蘭妮的才華，進而委請她幫忙拍攝了兩部納粹黨黨工大會影片。也因此之故，希特勒常與蘭妮碰面。但也只是維持朋友的關係，直到希特勒自殺身亡。
蘭妮雖然一開始被希特勒吸引而進而寫信請求見面，即使成為朋友，但蘭妮本身卻不太認同希特勒的某些論點（如種族歧視，見蘭妮自傳所述）。
