超8毫米胶片

超8毫米胶片（Super 8 mm film）是一種8毫米胶片的改良版，1965年由柯達推出，比傳統8毫米寬，但是可以印在完全一樣的舊標準8毫米底片膜上，也同樣單邊穿孔。 然而穿孔尺寸小於那些老式的8毫米胶片，可是讓影片拍攝面積更大。超8的標準還專門分配了對孔的氧化物條，以達成聲音磁性記錄，可以錄製有聲影片。

起先有幾種不同標準的系統用於拍攝，但最後電影業需要在每種情況下都有相同的尺寸的機械設備比較便利。所以最流行的柯達系統逐漸統一市場。
