分类学
1881年至1905年间，弗雷德里克·曼森·贝利描述了11个产自澳大利亚北部的猪笼草属物种，但在1928年这11个物种全部被B·H·丹瑟认为是奇异猪笼草的同物异名。罗恩猪笼草是唯一一个被B·H·丹瑟认为具有奇异猪笼草非典型形态特征的类群。他写道：{{refn|B·H·丹瑟对罗恩猪笼草的叙述原文：但分类学家简·斯洛尔在其食虫植物数据库中并不认同，他仍认为罗恩猪笼草是奇异猪笼草的一个同物异名。

根据国际植物命名法规，罗恩猪笼草的种加词来源于人名“Rowan”，正确学名应为“Nepenthes rowaniae”。虽然“rowanae”理应被更正为“rowaniae”，但文献中更倾向使用“Nepenthes rowanae”。
