至2026年7月止，通過世界遺產評定準則的世界遺產共有1,273處，分別位於196個成員國國內。其中，文化遺產佔991處，自然遺產佔240處，文化與自然雙重遺產佔42處。世界遺產委員會將國家劃分成五個地區：非洲、阿拉伯國家、亞洲和太平洋地區、歐洲和北美地区，及拉丁美洲和加勒比地區。
