這雖然是賓·京士利第一部電影，但他的演出卻大受好評，更為他贏得第55屆奧斯卡金像獎最佳男主角獎。除此之外，李察·艾登堡祿亦贏得最佳導演獎，讓此片最後獲得包括最佳電影獎、原创剧本、摄影、剪辑、艺术指导、服装设计在內的共八個奧斯卡獎，另有最佳配乐、化妆和音效三项提名。
