赤祖父俊一(,),出生於日本長野縣佐久市,美国地球物理学家,阿拉斯加費爾班克大學的國際北極研究中心的創建人,並且從1998年成立以來,一直擔任董事,直到2007年1月,而在之前從1986年起,他也是地球物理研究所的所長。
背景
赤祖父俊一於1953年和1957年在日本仙台的東北大學獲得地球物理學的學士和碩士學位,然後於1961年在阿拉斯加費爾班克大學獲得地球物理學的博士學位。他的博士論文架構在極光的研究上,指導教授是西尼·查普曼。從1964年開始,他就是阿拉斯加費爾班克大學的地球物理學教授。
