奎宿九

观测
奎宿九位于飞马座四邊形的西北方向，理论上位于南纬54°以北的观察者都可以看见。在7弧分之外可以找到被称为奎宿九的幽靈的星系NGC 404。

名称和语源
奎宿九的英文名称Mirach和其他变体如Mirac, Mirar, Mirath, Mirax等 (在Burritt的书The Geography of the Heavens中被拼写为Merach) 源于该星在1521年阿方索星表中的描述“超级开阳（super mizar）”

使用阿拉伯语的中世纪天文学家把奎宿九称为Janb al-Musalsalah，意为“被锁住（的仙女）的侧面”。
