波斯地毯是一種紡織品，早在絲路開通時期就是伊朗傳統手工業相當著名的外銷產品；波斯地毯素以作工繁複、設計獨特、用料講究在市場上聞名，它的耐用度以及收藏價值極高，也可以說波斯地毯是種藝術品，也只有产于伊朗的地毯才能称为波斯地毯。

波斯地毯最主要的原料是羊毛，其次為棉與絲等。

波斯地毯产地众多，其中库姆出产最为珍贵地蚕丝地毯。

伊斯法罕出产丝毛地毯，风格沉稳雅致。

大不里士曾经作为波斯帝国首都，编织挂毯精美异常，大不里士丝毛地毯以华丽著称。

设拉子出产几何图案羊毛地毯，风格简约耐看。

科尔曼、马什哈德、卡尚等等城市都有属于自己城市风格的地毯。

2010年，和卡尚的「地毯編織傳統技藝」被列入聯合國教科文組織非物質文化遺產名錄。
